La obra de Derek
Besant, que ya ha mostrado el Centro de Arte Moderno de Madrid hace unos años,
no deja a nadie indiferente, sus trabajos buscan adentrarse en la mentalidad de
esta sociedad del siglo XXI, a partir de imágenes de gran formato, analiza
actitudes humanas, lo preocupa el medio ambiente, y ahora nos acerca una serie
sobre la ciudad, pero no como estamos acostumbrados a verla, sino desde el
punto de vista de la autodestrucción de nuestra especie, por ende la
autodestrucción de las ciudades que habitamos, como ecosistemas contaminados
por nuestros propios detritos. Una serie de grandes impresiones sobre tela, que
penden de las paredes blancas, exacerbando el contraste de la nada a la nada
hacia la que vamos. Su trabajo, que se ha visto en diferentes ciudades del
mundo, y ha participado en la última Bienal de Venecia, ahora se exhibe en
Madrid.
